Woodbury residents celebrate opening of new playground
Children in Woodbury are enjoying a new playground featuring £55,000 worth of equipment.
Villagers turned out in force to celebrate the official opening of the facility, which has been completed after three years of fundraising and planning by volunteer trustees of the Woodbury Community Playing Fields Charity (WCPF).
The official opening was also attended by representatives of the grant awarding bodies, who have made the playground project possible by contributing over £81,000 between them to cover both equipment and installation costs.
The Exeter Foundation donated £10,000 towards the project, which was also funded by the Gibbons Family Trust, Coastal Recycling and several other funding sources.
WCPF's work will continue as they have plans to install a multi-use games area and new facilities for the local football club, Girl Guides, Brownies and Scouts troops.
