Steeno hands over £10,000 donation raised from testemonial
For a player who was part of the squad taking Exeter Chiefs from the Championship to the Premiership, it seemed fitting that Gareth Steenson kicked-off his Testimonial year 12 months ago having been part of the team who had just brought home English rugby's grand prize.
In the months that have followed, the 34-year-old fly-half has enjoyed a remarkable Testimonial Year, which has included a golf day, variety night, coffee morning, a match-day against the Classic Lions, as well as an Irish-themed Gala Dinner at Sandy Park.
Gareth said: “Every one of the events has been incredibly well supported by the club, the business community and Chiefs fans. To reunite the Championship squad for the match against the Classic Lions was very special for me and it was humbling to have such a huge crowd at Sandy Park.”
Thanks to the generosity of so many people, donations of £10,000 were this week handed over to both Macmillan Cancer Support and the Exeter Foundation, the latter of which is the club's official charity.
