Devon holiday park raises thousands for Exeter Foundation
A holiday park in Devon has helped raise nearly £5,000 for the Exeter Foundation to help a host of local good causes.
Staff at Ladram Bay Holiday Park raised £4565 for the charity of the Exeter Chiefs as part of their Foundation XV membership, through a series of events held at the park on the Jurassic Coast between Sidmouth and Budleigh Salterton.
Exeter Chiefs’ CEO and chairman, and Exeter Foundation Trustee, Tony Rowe, invited members of Ladram Bay’s entertainments’ team including manager Greg Crutcher and Pickles the Parrot, on to the pitch at half-time in Sunday’s clash with Bath Rugby.
The Foundation acts as a fundraising body with a commitment to the future prosperity of greater Exeter, promoting the local community and helping local people.
Zoe House, Director at Ladram Bay Holiday Park, said: “Recognising how important the Foundation is for the development of the community of Exeter, our team has worked extremely hard, getting behind fundraising events which we hope will go a long way to helping the people of Exeter. We’re continuing to support our local community and I know the team are busy planning a number of exciting fundraising events for 2016.”
Sponsored themed events at Ladram Bay that helped raise money included a charity party dance marathon, with staff and guests performing party dance moves non-stop for five hours, a raffle and ticket sales from a party run by a holiday home owner.
Marc Astley, Exeter Foundation trustee, said: “We depend on companies like Ladram Bay Holiday Park and their staff and customers to support us. They’ve been fantastic this year, coming up with some great ways of getting people involved and helping to raise vital funds. Thanks to everyone who has played their part.”
The Exeter Foundation was set up by a group of professionals, conceived in part from the need to formalise the charitable fundraising at Exeter Chiefs Rugby Club. All 19 charities benefit from collections at each home game and companies like Ladram Bay that pledge to raise funds for the foundation through the season. Local charities that benefit include Devon in Sight, Exeter Dementia Action Alliance and Dream-A-Way. Money that is raised through other activities, such as that donated by Foundation XV members, goes towards other projects and organisations who can apply for grants.
Ladram Bay Holiday Park supports a range of local causes and community groups, including Devon Air Ambulance, Otterton Village Hall and Church and Sidmouth Vikings Under 9s football team.
