Date Change for Big Walk
With an extremely busy couple of months coming up at Sandy Park, the Exeter Foundation’s annual Big Walk has been postponed until September.
The event will now take place on Sunday, 20th September, coinciding with the opening weekend of the Rugby World Cup.
The 10-mile sponsored walk, which last year raised several thousand pounds for the Exeter Foundation, starts and finishes at Rugby World Cup venue Sandy Park and takes in a flat, scenic route through the Exe Valley.
Following the walk, participants can watch the Rugby World Cup pool match between New Zealand and Argentina in Sandy Park’s Exeter Suite, with a complimentary pasty and pint.
The Big Walk is open to anyone aged over 12, but there are also opportunities for parents, carers, buggies and younger children to take part by walking around the Exeter Chiefs’ hallowed turf at Sandy Park, although spaces are limited.
Speaking about the event, Exeter Foundation Trustee Keiron Northcott said: “It’s unfortunate that we’ve had to reschedule the walk, however we’re looking forward to completing the challenge in September with a Rugby World Cup flavour to the day.
“The Big Walk really is a fantastic event to be involved in, participants are able to travel through the beautiful Exe Valley in a way they may not usually, with the added bonus of raising money for the Exeter Foundation.”
Individual entries to the walk are £15 or teams can enter for £100. Anyone who wishes to sign up can do so by contacting enquiries@exeterfoundation.org.uk or by downloading the individual form here or team form here. Entry form for the pitch walk is available on request.
