Chiefs and England Star Backs New Road Safety Initiative
Exeter Chiefs and England star Jack Nowell is providing his full backing to a Road Safety initiative entitled Learn2Live.
Jack, who is a patron of the Honest Truth Road Safety charity which delivers to about 15,000 sixth form students across Devon each year, was on hand to meet with representatives from the project at Sandy Park this week to find out more.
In what proved a moving morning for the 23-year-old, Jack got to speak with Sgt Harry Tangye of Devon & Cornwall Police and Ali Morrish, who in 2008 lost her daughter Anna in a fatal collision no more than half a mile from Sandy Park.
Both outlined how the events of that tragic day had impacted on them, but how they now wanted to help educate others in the future.
Having already helped to promote the outstanding work of The Honest Truth campaign, which is also a designated charity of the Exeter Foundation, Jack is now hoping youngsters will learn from the new road safety promotional film.
“Listening to what both Harry and Ali had to say about the crash, it was pretty brutal to be honest,” said Jack. “You don’t realise what effect an incident like this can have on so many people. If I can help in any small way to ensure that roads become safer because of the Learn2Live project, then I’m fully behind it.”
