Exeter Chiefs Foundation team up with Step One
Exeter Chiefs Foundation are thrilled to announce we are supporting the vital work being done by Step One as a part of their BeWell@StepOne campaign.
Access to mental health support has never been more crucial – and Step One have been working hard over the past 18 months to ensure the delivery of their accredited online course, available to individuals across the Greater Exeter area.
As the number of individuals looking to access mental-health care rises, the work done by charities like Step One has become increasingly important in the struggle to meet the rising demand.
Exeter Foundation have donated a grant of £5,750 to cover the purchase of five laptops with accessibility software, including Speech Recognition and Grammarly Dictation Correction, which will be included in a ‘device lending library’ to ensure that there are no barriers to access to the course.
With a combination of online courses, offering an assortment of self-management mental health tools and the opportunity to join a peer mentor forum, Step One are making a huge difference to lives around the county.
Trained Mentors are providing key peer support, bringing people together with shared experiences to create networks of encouragement and guidance as well as offering mentors a route into employment during a challenging time.
Eilis Rainsford, Chief Executive of Step One Charity said: “We’re immensely grateful for the support of the Exeter Chiefs Foundation for our BeWell@StepOne project. The mission of BeWell@StepOne is to reach as many people as possible through our online mental health support services and the generous donation from the Exeter Chiefs Foundation will be used to provide specialist IT equipment and ensure that our services really are accessible to all.”
Peer Support will be provided by trained mentors who have lived experience of mental ill health – bringing people together with shared experiences to support each other whilst also providing mentors with an employability pathway.
Chairman of the Foundation, Tony Rowe OBE, said “The Step One team are doing great work across the community, we are pleased to offer the support of the Foundation to ensure this program is open to all.”
“The Exeter Chiefs Foundation is supported by a community of generous doners, and their contributions offer charities like Step One the chance to expand their reach.”
